do a google search about wax on carpet.
also consider calling a cleaning service, stanley steemer or equivalent to ask them about it. they may give you and idea.
once we got some candle wax out of a carpet, didn't get all of it, by putting a towel over the spot and using a steam iron to get the wax loose and it attached to the cloth. moved the cloth several times and continued.
if you are considering this approach suggest you practice on another item that is similar. that is, get #2 son to get another gob of surf wax on something you can ruin (and not care) whilest practicing your technique.
