With the temperatures staying below normal in the Northeast well into March, I figured I'd try a commercial car wash to hold me over until it warms up enough and I have a free weekend to do a good wash/polish/wax on my 96 900 SET convertible. So I tried a friend-recommended brushless/touchless place to at least avoid slapping the soft-top silly. The car rolls out looking superficially shiny and a crew attacks it with cloths and wipes down the whole car. I get home and notice that not only is the car still filthy with dirt and grime smudges everywhere, but every piece of exterior black rubber or plastic is COATED with white stuff. It has the look of wax that slipped onto the trim, but everywhere. I didn't pay for wax, just a wash, so unless they gave me more than I paid for the only thing I can think of is that the rags the crew used were not clean and the guys rubbed wax residue all over my car. I had to spend well over an hour going over the bumpers, moldings, side view mirrors, winshield frame, etc. just to get the car passable again. I did two coats of Back to Black and then a top coat of Planters Peanut Oil, all of which will be for naught once I get around to doing a full cleaning in a couple weeks.
(Not looking for advice; just a forum to vent.... And be careful with those touchless places!)
