i have used connolly and lexol in past on cars.... but not newer saabs. i've always liked connolly but i found it takes some effort to buff the stickiness out of it. lexol is nice and easy to pour on, but i did find some darkening of the leather.
i know lots of people like the leatherique, so you might visit their website and/or call them. they have both deep cleaning and treating solutions, and i think you want/need a warm day/weekend to do it properly.
as far as once treated always have to treat, i think that may have more to do with how the leather is dyed to begin with. all leather i think does better with at least occaisional re-moisturizing, especially in hot/dry environs like cars.
hopefully some others will chip in with more info.
