Forgot to shake up touch-up paint; now darker touch-ups

Forgot to shake up my touch-up paint, and now my touch-ups are darker than my actual paint coat. Is this fix just as easy as properly shaking up and trying again? Call me crazy, but covering a darker color with a lighter color is not always accomplishable.
