First, I applaude you for making the Herculean effort to get your car looking sharp. I'm sure its looks much better than before. But maybe not quite as good as you'd like it. Let's see if we can improve things a little.
Your regimen is excellent. Good products used in all the correct steps. Nothing wrong with the process.
And I'm glad you did this on sections of the car instead of the whole car. There's always some critical experimenting that needs to go on and it sounds like you did that. Good.
When you see the scratches in the light the only thing you can do to remove them is "level" the paint, meaning buff down the surface of the paint until the scratches are gone or invisible. Normally I recommend a polish stronger than Meg's Body Scrub, which is about a 4-5 on the polishing scale. Sounds like you need a product that's more like a 7 (more aggressive). You might want to experiment a little with that rubbing compound you've got. Try it on a small area where the swirls are noticeable. Work it in fully, meaning polish until there's almost no residue to wipe off. This is a technique lost on novices as they tend to quit polishing right at the moment they need to keep going, thus negating most of the work they did. Follow this with the Body Scrub, the glaze polish, then look to see if its what you want. Don't wax it as the goal here is to try to find a technique to get the paint looking the way you want it to. This experiment should only take a few minutes to conduct. Use dime or nickel sized dabs of product, no more.
