but sometimes things are counter-intuitive. One example was a study done by BMW in the late 70's proposing that accelerating hard up to cruising speed used less gas than gentle acceleration because the engine was more effecient at wide open throttle. To win a fuel economy prize you take a very small engine and run it wide open or coast, never at part throttle.
Is it conceivable that for a given speed an engine running on premium might run less turbo boost and use less gas (your logic) for the same power output?
