The youngest classic 900 is now over a decade old. You have both use and age working against you, so look for a used 900 that's either very smooth or has already had tranny work done. I attempted to find a 1993 900 last year with reasonable miles in my area, but it was a pretty futile attempt. It's just getting very hard to find them anymore. Or you can do what we did. We replaced our 900 with a '99 9-3. It's been our best Saab yet and we drove it 26,000 miles in a single year.
But if someone tells you that Saab trannies are unreliable and fail prematurely - that person is wrong.
