My friend is a choir director and he makes me think I can sing so my wife and I are going on his EF Tours 17 day tour of the Way of St James also called the Camino Santiago. He's bringing most of his choir, the San Elijo Chorale and his wife is bringing students from her performing arts school to dance, 35 of us adults and kids.

We arrive in Madrid after a layover in Franfurt on July 3. Then it's off to Pamplona, we're there for the festival but just miss the bulls, Burgos, Leon, Ponferrada, Santiago de Compostela, La Coruna, Salamanca and back to Madrid. I return, but my poor wife spends another 10 days in Barcelona and Paris.

Along the way we perform our 13 song secular and liturgical choral music five times while my wife, my friend's wife, and students from my wife's former school dance. A vacation with performances, a double bonus and the preperation and rehearsals will make the remaining time even more memorable.

Anybody been there, done that? My choir directing friend, a teacher, travels Europe every summer by way of wealthy Italian relatives and house-swapping his ocean view Cardiff by the Sea house for residences in France, Spain and Portugal. Spain is his favorite attitude, lifestyle and pricing.

I'm already mentally gone....
