....even if they don't feel the need to do so, you would think they would drive the car with spirit at least when they are alone. I don't race people in my 9-3, but I have a blast on back country roads sometimes, by myself, usually late at night.

-I think its the contrary. If someone buys a Porsche and never drives it with spirit (either racing, or driving alone for pleasure) then I would say they actually are NOT comfortable with themself, because they bought the Porsche soley for image. If you are alone late at night on a country back road, attacking some curves with great speed isn't proving anything to anyone, its about you enjoying the vehicle....nothing wrong with that. I bought my SAAB because its fun to drive, not for its image. I know plenty see plenty of old farts (excuse the term) in Porsches who likely never go over 70 mph in it. These people bought the car exclusively for the image, and to have the ability to say "I own a Porsche".
