I like to point at the ratings b/c I love to single out VW/Audi. I'm not sure why I hate these cars so much--actually, they are generally pretty great looking and genrally fun to drive, but I just see the drivers are so smug about a car which does, of course, have it's share of problems. (I could also dislike them as much as I do b/c both VW/Audi seem to me to be Saab's main competitor). BMW drivers have that similar smugness, but somehow the fact that generally I think of BMW as well made cars helps me to get over their smugness. Also, I like driving BMWs! With Mercedes, their recent drivers in the US buy solely, as far as I can see anymore, on snootiness of name recognition, and their drivers just don't seem all that into actually driving their car, rather just pointing to the star on the hood. (I know, a bit unfair and an overatement!..) Anyway, my point is, I know that the surveys are not really very accurate, but I like pointing to them for my unreasonable fondness of making VW/Audi look bad!!
