I've heard all the arguments AGAINST digital video recorders so let me answer them here:

1) There's nothing worth watching on TV
Answer: Sure there is... If you bother to look for it! Instead people just plop themselves on the couch, turn on the TV, channel surf and find NOTHING on at the time.

2) I watch too much TV already
Answer: With TiVo you can "timeshift" and watch things when YOU have the time, not just when it's on. And you don't miss the good stuff because you have to be somewhere else.

3) Isn't it just a fancy schmanzy VCR?
Answer: It's soooo much more advanced than a VCR it's not even in the same category! VCR's are stupid and very error prone (you forgot to schedule it, you forget to insert a tape, the tape ran out, the VCR wasn't set to OFF, the program got rescheduled, etc.) TiVo is so easy to use your GRANDMOTHER could figure it out.

4) It's too expensive.
Answer: Yeah, it costs a bit to set up and subscribe to the guide service but it's worth it. Heck, when VCR's came out in the 70's they were over $1000 (probably $2000 in today's dollars) and they didn't work well at all!

5) It's still not worth it.
Answer: Yes it is... And I claim that LOTS of people will have a Digital Video Recorder in the years ahead. The cable companies are all getting into the market with "intelligent cable boxes". It's about TIME.

Oh... and you can skip all the commercials EASILY! ;-)
