I am fast becoming addicted to turbo, but not yet in the market for a replacement for my way-too-reliable POS american sedan (yes, our Saab is mainly my wife's car :(
VW's 1.8T engine gets a lot of great reviews, but the problem with it seems to be the car that surrounds the engine. A colleague bought one a few months ago. Just about everything that could break has broken, outside of the engine. Recent JDPowers data corroborates this finding. As far as I am concerned, NO car is fun to drive if it's in the shop.
I will continue to do research but everything I read seems to lead me to the conclusion that I need a Saab of my own; it is hard to beat for safety, fun, fuel economy & "get me to work in the snow." I don't suppose many on this BB would argue...
