...they found our stolen car parked in a parkinglot this morning. A cop was patroling, and he noticed it had a handkerchief draped over the steering column. Suspicious. He checks, and its our car. Plates were still on it. Nice stereo head unit I had added was gone though.

They said maybe the parked it there and were gonna come back. Or maybe just left it, and just wanted the stereo.

Anyway, the car was gone for 2 days. Damgage = steering column around ignition area (of course), stereo head unit is missing. Cop said they couldn't start it, maybe out of gas they said, whoch could explain why it was left there.

We didnt have much insurance on the car, just the minimum (its an '89 Olds 98, our 5th car, but we keep it around because its mint and has sentimental value) so we wouldn't get any money from the insurance.

Would you take the car back? My parents are considering not taking it, because they say they don;t know what kind of people these theives were, and would feel weird sitting in the car now, not knowing what they did in it, if they had disease, etc.....

What would you do? I feel that if they don't want the car back because of that, then they may as well never ride a train or subway again....or may as well never buy a used car again, because who knows what the previous owners did in it.

Whats your opinion here? I'll see the car in person tomorrow.
