To answer your questions:
1) I'm using X-Pel
2) Yes, there is some scratching after almost three years, but I never noticed it before you asked the question. To be honest, the haze on the inside of my '99 9³'s lenses is obscuring WAY more light than the scratches. They're very light scratches at this point, & I could only see them by shining a flashlight at an angle into the headlights.
3) No more than when they were unprotected.
If scratches are a long-term concern, get some good plastic polish/scratch-remover (Novus linked below). I've been using Rain-X on them maybe once or twice a year, & that helps keep down scratching & snow/ice buildup.
