Okayyy here goes............(deeeep breath)
So I decided to take a nice easy drive for my hour lunch to a nearby lake
here in RI.....I am on a back road double lane highway with traffic when a
Mustang and Green Honda Accord are "racing"....'Stang pulls off to shopping area while the Green Honda rushes past me and several vehicles in front of me.... in a populated area of a small town
Now I was doing 25 becuse of some old Ford P/U with hay in it......
I pull out into the second lane in my Green Saab and speed up to the 35 mph that is posted.....about 5-6 car lengths past slow Ford P/U a town cop
come sup behind me. I pull over to right lane believing he is after the kid in the Honda---- NOPE he pulls behind me.
When he come sup to my window he tells me I was doing 61...WTF!!! I was quite shocked and told him what just happened...if I was doing 61 how fast was the Honda going..he counters with a pause "Did he have Mass plates?"
I told him, "I was too busy with the slow traffic in front of me to notice his plates and if I was going that fast don't you think I would have been farther past such slow moving traffic??"
He then pauses again goes back to his car and writes me up for a 40 in a 35...
Now how the hell can he say I am doing 40 when he already said I was doing 61-- he obviously did not clock at 40 due to his remark..
Whew--
Now I want to take this to court..
1. Should I hire a lawyer?
2. Was thinking of writing these events down then mailing them to myself-
to open in court AFTER I have the cop tell where he supposedly clocked me at so that it can be used to accurately calculate time/distance of my speed
to him catching me...
3. Am I to simply give in here...??
ANY HELP!?!?!?!
