I commend "Islands in the Stream" to you - it was beautiful and accessible. The tragedy he writes about is emotionally vivid - on the order of a Johnny Cash song or the scene in Shawshank when the fellow comes out of the sewer into the rain. Its beautiful to be.
Sedaris is entertaining, but I find him a little repetitive. Have you read "High Fidelity"? The book was good.
