It's a bee. Many things in my life have had a bee theme. I used to own a black and yellow striped VW. I used to run for a team that wore black and yellow striped uniforms which were called bumblebees (ran a 4:19 mile in HS then a 4:14 the following year in College shortly after which my achilles blew out). It was a nickname in college and I cultivate Orchard Mason solitary bees to help polinate my garden, which is another hobby.
My wife had it designed by a graphic artist from Industrial Light & Magic who has since left to start her publishing her own children's books - If you have kids, you should definitely get her book - great bed time reading (link below). The wings spell the letters E and S which are the my wife and my initials (Elle and Scott). Elle's had this tat (thanks jak for the language) on her back for over a year now. I decided over a year ago to get it as well, but waited a year to make sure I would still feel the same about it later. After 15 years together... It might be sure thing by now, maybe ;-). And how many girls out there are 100% Saab thoroughbreds? She's never owned anything but Saabs since day 1 of driving. ;-).
