What is GM Supplier discount REALLY worth, and other ?s

The company I work for makes stuff that ultimately goes into cars. I'm pretty sure I can get a GM supplier discount.
But when I look on GMSupplierDiscount.com, the examples they give don't seem much better than what a good negotiator might get outside the program.
Here's why I ask... I have a GM credit card that gives me 5% of my charges towards a GM car (Saabs excluded, but that's OK, the next car is for my wife, a mini-van lover). The "earnings" cap out at $500 per year.
However, those credits can't be used in conjunction with the GM supplier discount. To get that kind of credit, you have to get the GM "Extended Family" card. It gives 1% credit, no annual cap on credits, and it can be used for Saab, Saturn, and (God forbid) Hummer.
I also have a citibank card that gives me 2% credit toward any car, new or used. It paid the sales tax on my recent used Viggen purchase. This one also has a $500 per year cap.
My wife might like a new minivan in 2 to 3 years. Depending on what the GM supplier discount is worth, it might be better to blow it off and just charge like the dickens on these 2 cards. I charge enough to get to the $500 limit on both.
(By the way, lest anyone scold me about abusing credit, I pay my entire balance every month.)
What should I do? The answer depends on what the GM Supplier discount is REALLY worth. Has anyone else reasoned through this problem?
