I mean it is also a federal law to ask anyone upon the admission to the hospital if they have one, or if they need one written. In cases that we do not know what the living will is, then we assume everything is a go. In referrance to additional pain at times it can be a cluster. I've seen where nursing homes lose the paper work and then we are forced by law in a sense to save lives by doing procedures that the person might not wanted.
