After 20+ years of landing helocopters in salt water (US Coast Guard) and growing up in Wi., The answer is LOTS OF FRESH WATER! a good wax job will help, but the smallest scratch will allow the corrosive salt mixture to contact bare metal. The real concern is underneath. Do NOT use a pressure washer. that can drive the salt up into nooks and crannies, it will rot your car from the inside out. Use a lot of fresh water at low pressure to dilute the salt to a leval where it does not cause a residual film. For a soap, make sure it is PH balanced, many soaps are acidic and can cause as much damage as salt in the long term. A yard sprinkler can do a good job at rinsing the bottom of your ride. Anything that lets the bottom get rinsed will help a lot! A piece of PVC pipe with a lot of holes drilled in it and the end hooked to a water hose makes a good bath for the bottom. Of course the problem then becomes what to do with all the water before it turns to ice in the driveway.
