Clearly, not all folks get less tech-friendly as they age, and there's no difinitive "age cut off" for computer literacy.
However, people are affected by the times they live in, and people born in the 70's and 80's were educated with more dependence on tech gear than previous generations. By all indications, this divide will grow exponentially in the future.
This generational gap is augmented by the tendency of people to "move on" as they get older: Whether or not pay or titles reflect the movement, people gravitate toward more executive functions as they gain seniority. As this happens, a person's membership in the technical vanguard becomes a less important (and eventually neglible) part of his/her perceived worth, and he/she will expend less resources on staying on the cutting edge of tech.
While there are plenty of older computer experts, a randomly selected younger person is much more likely to be at least minimally computer literate than a randomly selected older person.
Again, the cause is not "losing it" or "getting set in one's ways" or anything quite so depressing. It's simply a function of one's times and one's place.
