Pick 'em up tailgating

My name is Greg W, and I'm a tailgater. I guess I'm usually in the 1 second trailing distance range. I do know that I tailgate less in my Saab (and when travelling with my kids) than I did in my '02 4WD pick 'em up (which my '03 replaced).
I observed years ago that, when I have a panic-stopping tailgater behind me came close to rear ending me, it was seldom a pick 'em up or SUV (back when there was only Suburbans or Blazers or Broncos). It was (and is) almost always a car. After driving my 4WD, I now understand why. The higher seat height allowed me to see traffic over the car in front of me and better anticipate sudden stops.
No excuse to tailgating, just an observation...
