I spent about 10 years on the road from 1985-1995 seeing them. Was some of the best times of my life. Learned a great amount about other cultures and people in general. Also, learned a hell of a lot about myself (a couple months on end in the back of a van has you doing a lot of thinking and writing). Saw them 187 times in total and the day Jerry died was one of the saddest days of my life (yeah I know...I'm a big sap). Was tough because the guy did it to himself...for way too long and it took a toll on his body and mental well being.

Just saw the 5 shows here at Red Rocks over the summer...best venue on earth, spiritually and acoustically. If you haven't ever been there, it's worth taking a little vacation for any concert. Absolutely incredible. Jimmy Herring IS an excelling guitarist...lots of southern roots with a lot of jazz influence.

Was going to mention a few sites:
http://www.sharingthegroove.com (music and videos of all sorts of music)
http://www.gdlive.com (grateful dead in mp3 and shn)
http://www.etree.org (just a disgusting amount of live music variety)
and also, JC's post about http://www.furthernet.com...more great stuff!

I have tons of great soundboards on DAT from 1966-1992 or so. Been in the process of putting them all to CD. If anyone is looking for a favorite show, or maybe one they were at and can't find them online...feel free to drop a msg to me. I'd be happy to rip to shn or mp3, and that would push me more to complete my DAT > CD transition :)

Just nice to know there's a bunch still floatin about!!!

Peace!
