Matt to answer your questions: the seller took the car to his Saab dealership in NY to have the car serviced days before I picked it up. The dealer did not make a note of ANYTHING being wrong with the car. I brought the car up to Massachusetts and when the alternator busted the dealer HERE pointed out all the other items.
I spoke with the dealership here and he said: these types of things can "easily be missed" if the mechanic doesn't look closely enough. So the seller got a clean bill of health from his crappy dealer while I got stuck footing the bill for stuff they should've caught. Believe me I'm NOT happy.
FYI: the Acura timing belt lasts 70-90K miles and most shops do it for $300 or less. I was living on the edge b/c mine was never replaced....
