LOTR wins hands down

I can't believe how fast the Matrix trilogy got bad in "Revolutions." The first Matrix movie was amazing; the second, acceptable. The third was complete and utter crap.
I have high expectations for Return of the King. I'm almost certain they'll be met. Also, the extended editions of the first two LOTR movies are much better than the theatrical versions. The additional features they come with explain a lot of the decisions they make, especially when they deviate from the book. Amazing stuff.
Word is Peter Jackson's next project is "The Hobbit," working with some of the same actors as LOTR.
The original Star Wars trilogy was exceptional in that the second movie was better than the first. I think that LOTR will be exceptional in that the third movie will be the best of the lot. In fact, LOTR may be the best trilogy ever, given that Jedi was ruined by the stupid ewoks.
I would love to see a cinematic remake of Dune. The movie version had a lot going for it. Great soundtrack by Toto, good cast--but they screwed too much with the plot. The SciFi channel version was a bit better in terms of plot, but fell flat in other dimensions. I think Dune would really lend itself to martial arts action a la the Matrix. Might have to wait another decade before we see it, though.
