Well, essentially what you get with the Silverstars is a trade-off, more usable light output, but with a shorter bulb life. My persepective is that the US DOT spec headlights are so bad (compared to the European code lights) I would do about anything, within reason, to improve the lighting output. I own a 1994 9000 Aero, and I have even gone and modified the high beam bulbs to fit the low beam light recepticle to get even more usable light output (doing this does not blind oncoming traffic, but it does give you more output). I have the Silverstars in my 9000, and there is a significant difference in output; despite the purported shorter life I would still give up that trade-off for the improvement in light output.
