That's it?..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sat, 27 Dec 2003 11:44:42 In Reply to: Arc vs. Linear, Steve, Sat, 27 Dec 2003 09:28:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here at the dealer we went many months without the 210hp Arc, only the 175hp Linears where availible. When the Arc's came in we drove the car expecting the 210hp, the extra 35hp, to transform the car. It didn't and we exclaimed "That's it?". In our brief drive around the dealer the Linear felt as lively, if not more.
Once you get the Arc out on the open road and above 4,500rpm, then you can feel the difference. The Arc has a bigger turbo, slower responding although neither car has anything you would call lag, and hotter cams which makes the difference in power all on the top end, no increased grunt around town.
The Arc has the 16's and color matched lowers standard, the wood trim and silver intrument bezels, dual power seats with memory, 300w 13 speaker setup with the Infortainment screen radio head and standard ACC (auto/digital climate control) and the 210hp.
You can equip a Linear to look like an Arc with the 16's and the premium package which gets you the color-matched lowers and ACC, plus the 6-disc in dash changer. What you can't get in a Linear is the dual power seats with memory and some toys like xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers and rear park assist. You can upgrade the Linear to the 300w 13 speaker, but you won't get the Infotainment screeen. Stuff like the wood trim and silver intrument bezels are also availible as accessories.
