I like the "He said his feet got tangled up with the gas and brake pedals" part. That sounds funny.
However, actually that sort of happended to me once approaching a stop sign. As I was going for the brake my foot slipped off and got just the corner of the gas pedal and for a split second before it could register with my brain I found myself pushing increasingly harder on the gas to stop. Then as I try to lift off and get back on the brake pedal my foot is partly blocked by the brake pedal and sort of stuck. All this happened very quickly but it was rather scary. I did stop legally without issue or consequence.
Then there is the "...operating a potentially lethal instrument without the ability to keep it under control." That pretty much goes without saying--it is a hummer.
