I saw Tom Stephens, Group Vice President-Powertrains, General Motors,
and he said that GM is backing off it's earlier projections of hybrid SUV in the near future, was instead concentrating on large vehicles, specifically buses. Said that a few thousand buses could save more gas than a million compact cars, or something to that effect.
At the end of the show, the moderator for the show (John McEnroe) said that even though Stephens wouldn't officially talk about it, GM has a new hybrid technology that they're trying to patent, and that's why hybrid SUV's, trucks, and passenger cars are on hold.
This episode aired last September.
