Agreed basic engineering design should be priority one

but many people seem more concerned about the superficial and give up engineering safety, driveabilty, and the like to get things like sunroofs, leather seats, and cup holders. Nothing wrong with this stuff and it is fine to get a car that has it but the first concern should be the basic car. It seems many people will settle for a less well engineered car so they can afford to get all sorts of relatively superficial extras. This isn't consistent at all with my way of thinking.

Now mini-skirts are another matter entirely. They don't fall into the basic car category but into the sunroof, leather seats, and sport wheel package category. A nice luxury item to add to a well engineered design.
