My dad runs a mail order business for clock parts. He's one of 3 in the US in the biz. He's in his early 60's, busier than ever, and business is booming. I did a website for him that is basically what I called a "Yellow Pages Ad". It lists the general parts he carries (bullet point list), and the brands (another bullet point list). It lists his volume discount schedule, and says to call his 800 number.

Over the years he's come to this conclusion as a small business owner.
-Small orders are a waste of time.
-Email is a HUGE waste of time. People will want to ask questions over a few emails that can be sorted out in 1 minute over the phone.
-Managing a big website and the content is time consuming, expensive, and rather daunting for a 60+ year old man.

He provides a free phone number, 30 years of expertise, low backorders, volume discounts, and quick shipping. As such, he has a very loyal customer base. The new guys want email and all that, and my old man gets irritated with email. He's not the most computer literate guy. He works the phones and does well.

So when I see Sobstory's website, it reminds me of my father's site. While the website isn't snazzy, and leads you to think he's only got a few parts, calling him is another story. He knows the cars, he knows the repair procedures, he's like a walking parts encylopedia, and he'll tell you what other things make sense to address while you've got something torn down. All that and the prices are great. And he may have a used part if you want to go that route. That's why I call Jim for parts instead of going to a web only vendor.
