On pages 73 and 74 of the March Motortrend, it talks about a joystick-driven Saab of the mid 1990s. I quote:
"In the mid-1990s, Saab drew on its sister aircraft company's fly-by-wire expertise to build a joystick-steered concept car. Saab's system used sensors and servomotors to give automatic correction for the effects of side winds.(73)"
On the next page, there is a pic of a 9000 interior minus the steering wheel with a joystick system plugged in right under the ACC. The spot where the wheel should be is labled "Saab SRS". There also is a big red button where the clock should be and some odd lights and buttons under the space for the clock.
I don't know how to post pics, but if anyone's interested, I could scan it and send it to them and they cold post....It's cool, especially as a Saab 9000 owner. I wish I could find more info about this car....
