My question is "who's responsible for calibrating the danged thing?"
Can you imagine the effect on the sensing element from a night out at Bubba's Wing wagon, pounding down Lowenbraus, volcanic wings, double-dipped garlic pork rinds with bean dip, and some vindiloo sauce on the side?
On second thought, can you imagine the effect on the poor guy who gets to re-skin the seats?
-------
Seriously though, they'd have to find a sensing element that would be 100% trustworthy without calibration for years on end under all temperature conditions. Not gonna happen no matter how much the NM legislature wants it to.
