Non Saab related, but........
Jerry Flint is the automotive industry editor and has some unique insights for the industry. Current critique of GM and Ford is their abandonment of high volume mass market cars for "niche" runs of 25,000 cars at $25,000. Points out that rather than make the Taurus better, Ford will make two cars in that spot, yet 419,000 Camrys were produced last year along with 389,000 Accords if I recall correctly (and thats before variants of those platforms)so the mass market model for sedans still works, they just gave up. Those were volumes Ford and Chevy used to claim for their leading sedans. The mass market model seems to work on the SUV segment but not on American sedan segments. Interesting reading based on well thought out reasoning. Not sure if you can get it on line, but you can read it at B&N or Borders during a coffee break.
