Years ago I watched some moron father pull into the gas station and yell at his nervous 13ish teenage daughter to fill the tank on their aging Chevy while he sat in the car. The gas cap was behind the license plate through a cut out in the chrome (and rust) bumper (Impala or Caprice two door in faded pickle green, IIRC). Girl pulls the plate down, removes the cap and sticks the nozzle between the filler nreck and the bumper. Then she clicks the handle in the hold position and walks towards a soda machine. Several of us ran towards the car yelling at the puddle of gas forming under the car, before someone stopped the pump, several gallons were spread under three cars. Then fat dad gets out of the car cursing at the kid with a cigarette in his hand.
I'm not sure if we were lucky that the mixture didn't hit the required 17:1 air/gas mix or if it had and the gene pool would have improved in that zip code. Got out of there quick once the pump stopped. Poor kid. Wonder what ever happened to her.
