recycling or disposing of gasoline

I changed my fuel filter this weekend, and I collected some of the spilled gas in the same tray I had just used while doing an oil change. I now have a small bottle of gas with some oil in in it, and a mostly-but-not-completely-empty old fuel filter.
What do I do with them? My city (Cambridge, MA) has household waste recycling days, but the next one is April 24, and they won't accept my gasoline until then. I don't want to have to hang onto it for a month. AutoZone won't take it.
I could just go to AutoZone and tell them it's oil (it's the color of oil, anyway) and dump it in the oil recovery thing. I don't think that has any kind of vapor control on it, though. I could set the bottle outside and let the gas evaporate, but that kind of defies the whole point of having evap control systems on our cars.
Ideas?
