All of this over a stinkin' screw...help needed... Posted by Clay McNeely [Email] (#497) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Clay McNeely) on Wed, 24 Mar 2004 06:43:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello, everyone. I'm in the process of replacing the voltage regulator on my 1990 Saab 900 Turbo. This is supposed to be a 10 minute job, but has turned into several hours of turmoil and torture for me. The voltage regulator is attached to the alternator with two screws. I got the right screw out without any problems in the least, but the left screw will not budge. It's a fairly tight space in there and I'm at a loss of methods to get that thing loosened up. I have a screwdriver that fits it, but the problem is that I just can't turn it. I've drenched the screw with WD-40, tried an off-set screwdriver, and all sorts of other things...no luck. I'm a decent-sized guy (6'4"), but I'm beginning to question my own strength in not being able to overcome a petty little screw. Are there any other alternatives that I should explore? I have no clue where to go from here, so any suggestions are greatly (and I do mean greatly) appreciated. If worse comes to worse, will AutoZone or some other parts store help me out in removing the screw? Please help me...I'm stuck in a Nissan Sentra and my 900 sits in the driveway, all because of a stinkin' screw. Thanks so much in advance for your feedback, comments, suggestions, so on and so forth. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
