Hello---I'm looking to be a used car and would like your thoughts. (It's just me, so it'll be my one and only vehicle.) Basically, I'm torn between buying a sensible, reliable car like a Toyota Corrolla, Nissan Altima, or buying a 2001 9-3 turbo hatchback. I'm not really a car person, but I loved the cute red Saab. It has leather seats, sunroof, seat heaters, etc. and I really like the size of it, as I tend to like smaller cars. Plus, it would be just my things and myself that I would be driving around, so I don't need to consider the roominess of the backseat.
The Saab is more than the other cars that I'm considering, but I'm willing to pay that as long as I will not be stuck later with huge repair bills. I'm a woman and I really do not want headaches about my car (hence why I'm looking at Toyotas and Nissans). I know that I've seen old Saabs on the road that have lasted but I have also heard some stories of Saab lemons.
So, the million dollar question is how this Saab compares to the other cars in your opinion? Which could I expect to last longer and be dependable? How reliable would a 2001 9-3 turbo hatchback with 47K be? It is from a dealer and a lease return. What repairs could I expect in the near future? How much would these realistically cost?
Do you recommend I get a mechanic to look at it even though it's from a dealer? Would the dealer have maintenance records?
Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated--thank you!
