This is a great program. Purchased 4 cars through it. You may be able to save the sales tax when registered stateside if you keep the car overseas and then ship after 2 yrs. Most states will not look too hard when the car is a couple of years old. Did this with one car and when I went to register, DMV didn't charge any tax because the car was an '01 and had a previous registration through the military (although this is not a true registration, just allows access to military and some gov't facilities). VAT in Germany was 15% (coincidence?) Additionally, the dealers overseas will play up the 'tax-free' sale as you will not be charged the VAT from most EU countries. You will have to get the tax form from the local military/gov't tax relief office. Just remember you may get taxed when returning stateside. Still, a great program especially if you go to Sweden to take delivery. You and your car will love the Autobahn or Autostrada; gives both of you a chance to stretch your legs. Hope you get what you want. Take care and enjoy.
