Anyone ever tried a sacrificial cathode to prevent rust on a car?
If I remember my physics from the 1970s the idea is to use a battery to keep a negative charge on a iron item (which speeds the rusting process) while the positive side of the battery is attached to an item you want to prevent rust on. The positively charged item then barely rusts at all.
So the iron item could be a piece of junk which could be regularly replaced while the positive side could be, for the sake of an example, a Saab!
Seems much easier to me than sanding down, priming etc.
I'd hate to get the battery the wrong way around!
All ideas welcome.
