Everywhere but Switzerland.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Fri, 21 May 2004 18:14:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sunday my wife and I fly to Munich with our local BMW motorcycle club to begin out two week motorcycle tour. We pick up our rental BMW R1150RT in Munich, the same bike we ride here, my wife rides on the back and loves it, I'm truly blessed and packing for a motorcylcle tour all but eliminates shopping....
From Munich it down through Austria to the Dolomites in Italy for a night in Corvara. Then on to Savona in western Italy overnight on the ferry to Corsica. Four days and nights in Corsica and back on the ferry overnight to Toulon near Nice and up into the French Alps and the Gorge Verdon. We stay in Dignes-les-bains and near Grenoble and one other place and then we mosey over to Freiberg in Germany through the Black Forest, then Altensteig and back to Munich.
It's kind of a clockwise circle around Switzerland. We rode the Swiss, Italien and Austrian Alps three years ago and this year the club members wanted a new challenge. The fellow who wrote the standard reference manual for Alpine touring, "Motorcycle Touring in the Alps and Corsica" is a local member of our club who's been doing this 2-3 times a year for almost 30 years. As I mentioned we've done the Alps and so now it's off to Corsica and beyond. When you travel with him it's glorious as he knows all the roads and hotels and everyone welcomes him like some kind of royalty.
You'll probably see a posting or two along the way if I can figure out the European keyboards.
