Hi fellow Saabers!
Just an update on our string of bad events... BTW, I forgot to mention that in May, my wife mis-carried our 3rd child, (and Mel had kidney stones, mentioned before) so add this to the string of bad events...
Mel & I decided to take it easy and keep a low profile. We have adhered to your advices, including obeying all traffic laws. (So no tickets yet). I've even decided NOT to transfer the license plate that was on the '87 SPG. This plate was on '00 Prism (put it in a ditch in a snow storm) --> '96 SET (blown engine) --> '87 SPG (busted drive line). Instead, I got a new one for the '90 SPG. Gladly gave that plate back to the DMV.
Yet this morning, Mel & I met at 5:15am to ready the Viggen (hood flew open in highway) for transport down to Ann Arbor body shop for repairs. First, the tow truck guy was inexperienced and couldn't load the Viggen on the flat bed. We had to wait for the more experienced one who came in at 7:00am. Finally at 7:20m, Mel and the tow guy left for Ann Arbor. I went into work. Mel calls at 10:00am. He's not even halfway there yet (Saginaw to Ann Arbor is less than 1.5 hours), due to road blockage from a semi-truck accident on I-75. (He should have been back by 10:30am). What can you do but laugh and be thankful that so far, we hav been spared from bodily harm during this time of mal-events. May be the Viggen is bad luck? nah...
Hope you are having a better Friday than Mel.
James from Michigan
