I am posting for a friend.
He bought, used, a 1998 Passat 1.8T. Has recently had major problems, which have been worked on, under his warranty agreement. But the problems haven't been solved. These problems include electrical malfunctions and water leakage inside the vehicle (of course, there may be some cause & effect at work there...).

Current situation: vehicle is at dealer garage for the past 60 days, still not working. He no longer wants the car. He really wants to just call the dealer and say, "Please make me an offer for the car." I suggested he could name a price, as an opening offer.

Any advice? would the dealer likely just laugh? Has anyone been in this situation?
