batteries have a life span on electric cars of about 5-10 years, and can cost upwards of $2k to replace the whole pack. But, on the other hand what you save on gas, oil changes, and repair more than makes up for it in most cases. Electric charges per month will run you at most $5 to keep the electric car going. Think about how much you spend now on gas. For me, its near $60/month (long commute). very simplified: i would save $55/month X 5 years = $3300. in reality it isn't so simple...cost of conversion more than makes up for what you would save in gas.
