rpm range you can achieve the lowest numbers of the equation: x=((volume flow)/(power output)) + ((y)*(any WOT enrichment)) - (1/((z)*(real time spent getting to that rpm w/o torque convertor lock))
*where y would likely be a number to weight the relative impact of the variable and z would probably be an equation of some sort to describe any non-linearalities and wieght the impact.
and the trick would be to get-to and maintain that/those rpm(s) as soon and often as possible when you're driving. Or am I crazy? It is early in the morning and I'm far from a math wizard...
Hey wait a minute, that sounds exactly like what a CVT would let you do albeit not extremely effeciently. And if only there was some way to momentarily store the excess energy, when all that extra power isn't needed, to be released a minute or so later...
