Amazing:
With a group of friends in 1989, I climbed Mt. Sanford, el. 16k & change. Two weeks on the ice in May, so we had skis, sleds, enormous amounts of fuel, food, clothing, climbing gear, and a bit of whiskey. The '86 900 basic, with a Yakima roof rack carried me, two other adults, all the gear for us. Somewhere on the 250 mile trip to where we'd be flown onto the mountain, I picked up a part of a snowgrader blade. The tire was gradually getting flatter. Had to unload the trunk, put on the donut spare & continue. We had a schedled charter and even thought the donut spare said to keep it under 50 mph, I was cruising at about 70 with all the gear & weight. Mind you, sometims on snow & ice. Buffalo, as I called the car, was stable & secure, & delivered us safely to & from the mountain.
Shakey:
Driving the same car on the "Al-Can" & to the lower 48. I kept losing more power & getting worse gas mileage. When I finally got to Ohio, I checked & the air filter, brand new when I started, was so plugged with mosquitos Buffalo could hardly breate. A quick change & it was back to normal for the 5000 mile return trip. Turned over 100k & 110k miles on that trip.
