ot>dryer vent length....

is there any limit to how long i can run a dryer vent. it is right below the window in the basement, but i am going to finish the basement soon and want to move the dryer for better layout. problem is, it will be another 10 or so feet from the current position. don't know if i can just tack on that length to the vent and run it in the ceiling. my other options are underneath the side porch, which is finished, or underneath the kitchen floor (neither option i believe to be good for the trapping humidity inside the floor).
any thoughts? thanks.
