if it isn't that big, you don't need repaint, maybe a medium cleaner, followed by a mild abrasive polish. Try the least abrasive cleaner first and then work yourself up to the more aggressive product. If you can wax your car, you can use some reasonably safe professional products from 3M or Meguiars following instructions. Go visit Meguiars site and see some of their products, same for 3M.
If there is no body damage, the egg cannot do that much damage to the paint that a good orbital buffer and cleaner cannot take out. Yes, the top microns of the paint maybe damaged or eroded away but the base paint is likely intact and good.
