I own both Atlas (1022) and Crescent Moon (Gold series 9) snowshoes. I prefer the Crescent Moons to the Atlas, but they're both been very good shoes.
I mostly walk in Sierra cement, so can't guess how much float you'll need in Montana fluff, quite a bit more than I do, I suspect. With a daypack I total about 190 pounds and a 22-25 inch shoe is big enough, and very manuverable compared to bigger ones. Lighter too, which means I don't fatigue as quickly.
My suspicion is that you'll be able to get by with a 30-inch shoe, but probably best to rent before buying to see for sure. Sometimes the makers have demo days where you can try several pairs in a couple of hours. Maybe a local dealer is sponsoring one this winter?
Good luck! (It's over 90 here today and I'm having a hard time imagining snow right now).
