A reasonable analysis, and there's no telling how long the greater Bay Area bubble is going to last. But people have been predicting its popping for years, as prices continue to go up. I heard today that 19% of California households can afford the median-priced California home. That's pathetic.
At the very least you'll need to qualify for both house payments, and very few developers in the area are letting buyers use anyone other than their in-house lenders, so you'll have to shop developers very carefully.
All in all, it's probably still safer than tech stocks ;-)
